Author Introduction
A little about me!
Hello and welcome to the Spirit of Stress newsletter! My name is Vincent Daniel, and I’ll be your host. Some facts about me: I’m happily married and a proud dad of two wonderful boys and a one-year-old French Bulldog named Dory, which is a hint at my next fun fact—I’m a huge Disney fan. I teach Health Science at a high school in Charlotte, NC, and I’m a Christian author and an Integrative Health Specialist. I have two non-fiction books releasing this year and part one of a three-part YA speculative series, (more on that later!). As an Integrative Health Specialist and owner of StressUndone (currently under construction - check back soon!), I specialize in mitigating the physiological and spiritual effects of stress.
What can you expect from me and the Spirit of Stress newsletter?
Fellowship, edification, and education. I’ll be sharing tips on functional exercise, nutrition, chronic inflammation, health and wellness, longevity, breathing, posture, prayer life, spiritual warfare, and the word of God.
Looking ahead, what can you look forward to from me?
The first book I will be releasing is entitled the Spirit of Stress: A Christian’s Guide to Resilient Living (hence the name of the newsletter). In it, I discuss how the nervous system works, provide physiological strategies to down-regulate your fight or flight nervous system, and spiritual strategies to grow in our walk with God. The result? Less anxiety and depression, a longer fuse, thriving relationships, and a better reflection of Christ in the world. We could all use more of that, myself included, and yes, I practice what I preach! See my Instagram @authorvincentdaniel .
With exercise and breathing tips, a recipe for an organic homemade detox, a six-week meal plan with a grocery list, and spiritual tips to improve your walk with God, the Spirit of Stress is a comprehensive guide for a Christian to live resiliently. Our journey is difficult and can always be better. Do you wish you had more patience? A longer fuse? Do you want to bear more spiritual fruit, be a better witness, spouse, and parent? Do you want to lose weight and hate? If you’re a Christian who wants to feel better physically and feel better about yourself, this book is for you. The Spirit of Stress is a timely and timeless book for the body of Christ. The human experience is unique in that we are the only species who chronically live in fight or flight. Where other species only activate fight or flight when they’re in danger, ours is activated if we can’t get the kids to school on time - I know I’m not the only one. Even more unique is the human Christian experience. We have a spiritual battle to navigate and many of our stressors are spiritual. The constant stress causes a host of health problems and hinders our ability to be the Christian we want to be.
After decades of walking with the Lord and studying the effects of stress and how to mitigate them, the Spirit of Stress: A Christian’s Guide to Resilient Living, is born. My focus was to educate the reader on how the nervous system works, what to do to become more resilient to stress physiologically, identify common sources of temporal and spiritual stress, and provide some strategies to improve their relationship with God. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) has two components, the fight or flight nervous system or sympathetic nervous system (SNS), and the rest and digest nervous system or parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). Chronically activating our SNS results in chronic inflammation causing a host of health problems. This is true for all human beings, but for the Christian, the ramifications are wider. They don’t only cause weight gain and health problems but also hinder our ability to represent Christ and glorify God. This guide teaches practical ways to build a resilient nervous system, undo the effects of stress on our physical and mental health, and have a more intimate relationship with God. I pray it proves to be a helpful resource that improves your experience in this life!
Future projects:
Rest, Assured: A Journey Through the Book of Hebrews is an expository narrative on the book of Hebrews.
Although the Spirit of Stress will be released first, this is actually the first book I wrote when I felt God call me to write. It reveals the principal focus of the writer, which is to restore rest to the heart of the reader by reminding the reader of the person of Christ, the work of Christ, and the promises of the New Covenant. As Satan’s work has always been to bring unrest, the word of God sets out to destroy his work. Rest, Assured takes you on a journey, a guided tour through the book of Hebrews making stops to take in the peaceful, reassuring views of the scripture. Rich with hope and assurance, encouragement and consolation, and themes of both faith and perseverance, Rest, Assures: A Journey Through the Book of Hebrews, is a breath of fresh air, revitalizing the soul, and restoring rest to the Christian’s heart and mind.
YA Fantasy series, which I am not at liberty to say much about just yet, but stay tuned! What I can tell you is it’s a safe, faith-based, Christian series for children ages 12-18 where biblical stories come to life and collide with the experiences of the Christian adolescent.
Thank you!
Thank you for taking a piece of your life and spending it with me. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May he turn his face toward you and give you peace.
